As an undergraduate researcher I spent three co-operative work terms at the CNRG. My research focused on rodent navigation systems, where I have constructed attractor network models of the head direction system and the path integration system of the rat. Use of the Neural Engineering Framework has allowed me to create biologically plausible models of these complex networks in a systematic manner, and led to interesting predictions about the areas of the brain involved in these computations. I have also assisted Chris Eliasmith in generating a spiking neural network model of logical inference. In particular I have implemented complex high dimensional vector computations (e.g. cyclic convolution and correlation) in biological neural networks.
